Governor Crist Signs Read for the Record Proclamation
We're thrilled by all of the wonderful activity that continues to happen around Read for the Record. In honor of this worldwide literacy campaign, Governor Crist signed a proclamation observing October 8, 2009, as Florida Read for the Record Day, encouraging Floridians to participate by reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar to a child. This year, millions participated and last year’s campaign broke the previous world record with nearly 700,000 readers from across the globe who all shared the classic children's tale, Corduroy by Don Freeman.
